This event is free and open to the public! Doors open at 6:00pm. First come, first serve.

This powerful documentary on prescription drug abuse in Vermont is the first event in our community education series. This movie is ONLY available for private screenings! Come see what everyone has been talking about and stay for a discussion with the film’s director Bess O’Brien, some of the cast and a local clinician after the show.

The Hungry Heart provides an intimate look at the often hidden world of prescription drug addition through the world of Vermont pediatrician Fred Holmes, who works with patients struggling with this disease. The movie shows the many faces and diverse populations of addiction, and their continued search for a life of recovery. It provides a starting place for parents to have important conversations with their kids about substance use and abuse. The Hungry Heart has toured Vermont for screenings and was just awarded the 2016 Media Award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the College on Problems of Drug Dependency.
